It's the 250th! Where's the best place to go to participate? I have the schedule to go, so I'm seriously thinking about going, but it seems like it will be a complete circus, being it's the 250th!

Rose and I are planning to park at the MBTA station in South Acton and taking the 7:45 or 8:45 train in to Concord.

I was there for the 200th you know. Gerald Ford choppered in and gave a speech that was roundly boo'd by the hippy crowd on the west bank.

So you aren't going to Concord on the 19th?

Me too. That's why we're parking at an MBTA station out near I-495 and taking the commuter train in to Concord. It'll involve about a mile hike from the station to the bridge.

I'm not sure what all you include in "that area" , but the MBTA line runs all the way out to Fitchburg, another half hour or so drive to the west on Rt-2.

Here is the schedule. They are running extra trains that day:

https://www.mbta.com/schedules/CR-Fitchburg/timetable?date=2025-04-19&schedule_direction[direction_id]=1#direction-filter

Edit: for some reason the direction filter on that link is not working. You'll have to manually change it from Outbound to Wachusett to Inbound to north station.

Dammit! I'm glad I looked at the MBTA alerts. No scooters or bikes allowed on the 19th!It's tempting to get a hotel Friday and Sat, just come back on Sunday?I hate walking. Maybe they'll have shuttle buses? I've walked from from Concord to North Bridge and it ate a whole bunch of time and I was in better shape? Just gotta pick a place to stay?

I'm not sure about shuttle busses. Maybe you should hook up with an Uber driver? We plan on walking from the Concord train station up to the North Bridge, then from the bridge we'll go to the Museum and from the Museum back to the train station. Along the way we'll find somewhere to eat lunch. That's a total hike of 3.5 miles broken up into quarters. We should be able to handle it without breaking much of a sweat even though it is supposed to be in the upper 70's.

I'm going to change my name to wrong way McQuack, as I can not read a map. Sore legs aside, we managed to meet up. And I found some Jammie Dodgers in the England shop. lol Had a good time, despite my navigating abilities.
