Thinking about returning to SH3 with the GWX Mod once again. Does SH3 run under WIN 10?

It does. I am using it on Win 11.

I installed SHIII on my puter with Win 11 and I get an error message saying that it need XP,Vista etc to run. Other than get a new puter, any suggestions?

Set it run under WIN 7 in compatibility mode and as administrator.

Yep, works perfectly! Just make sure you perform the 4GB patch as well, or else it'll probably CTD while loading the campaign/scenario.

Can you give me a step by step guide on how to get SH3 working with win 11, All I seem to be able to do is install it.
I have a dvd install and have installed it from scratch (clean install) the game to the program folder not program x64 folder.
I have tried with Compatibility win 7, win XP and as administrator

I installed my SH3 directly on the c:\ drive i.e. (c:\Silent Hunter III), not to any Win folders from the disk. That's my step by step.

Are you running any mods? What PC setup do you have?

not running any mods, not even 1.4b
I have 2 drives trying to install on my G drive not C I have loads of memory + graphic card

It does not have to be c:\, just using it as an example.

Not sure what could be wrong.

You should have the SH3.exe set up for compatibility for Windows 7, or XP and as Administrator. It should work out of the box in Win 11 once installed.

Sorry, I am not sure what is wrong with your installation.

Thinking if it's not patched to 1.4b then maybe a Starforce issue with one of the older DVDs. Does the game load or is there any error message?

From the Grey Wolves GWX Support web page:

"You must install GWX3 GOLD over a CLEAN, UNMODIFIED installation of Silent Hunter 3 with the latest patch (1.4b) installed.
