Uboat Hydrophone- Player use?

I know the radio crew bots use the hydrophone to hunt for the player, but can the player use it directly? Thanks

Thanks. I guess I need to find some instruction and experiment some more. Im still b128. I found the youtube video. Operation is a little confusing. There seems to be different frequencies adjustments. That seems to make more sense to what ive been finding.
