I've looked but can't find this mod. I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Hi Grumpy Pete You can put Random Aircraft in GWX3 yourself heres how open up the folder of your GWX Install scroll down the screen untill you come to the mission editor left click to highlight then right click to open then open the campaing file then open RND Random Leyer.
Then left click on plus sign next to Random Group then right click on map then a box pops up click add random generated group give group a name eg Avro Anson-1 Group type Air then click acept then fill out Country and Loadout bombs type then click add entry the Yellow diamonds are the Random Groups spawn Location the green circles are the spawning units spawning every 24-48-72 hrs what ever the respawn interval you set. Now give your Avro Anson some waypoints six sould be enought then loop waypoint five with waypoint one and waypoint six with waypoint one also then right click on the Avro Anson and give it enrty and exit dates and repeat interval eg 48-72 hrs you can also add axtra Destroyer Patrols or Hunter Killer Support Groups in same way but click on naval not Air for those and as the war progresses you can add better longer range aircraft like Hudsons Wellingons Halifax's and Liberators just have a play with it youll be surprised how easy it is and the rewards are ten fold making GWX more of a challenge if you need any more help adding Aircraft into GWX just add to this post. Regards Andrew Oldfield AKA blackswan40 Salute ![]() If you mess things up dont worry ive covered all the bases ive uploaded the GWX Campaign files link Below. https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/dow...o=file&id=5440

Thanks Blackswan! That really may be the best way to go as I can set things to my personal tastes. I used to use the editor long ago so it should be easy to get back into using it again.
Side Note: I was so into the editor "back in the day" that I actually scripted all convoys on major routes from mid 40 through the end of 44. Convoy columns were ~1000 yards apart and ships in column were spaced out at 400-600 yards--with some slop. An escort group in 43 typically had 3 escorts in front of the convoy, a close and distant escort on the flanks and a couple at the rear. Some setups had an escort or 2 ranging ahead of the convoy 10-20 miles. I would then loop these convoys from Halifax (for example) to the UK and then back to Halifax. Each convoy was set to run for 3 months on that loop after which I started a new quarter with new convoys with compositions appropriate for that time frame. Ships were placed in convoy by priority of ship value. It was a ton of work but made convoy attacks a "bit" more nail biting. There were very few gaps in late war escort screens. Some convoys (HX229, SC122, HG71 and others) were historical. I'm considering undertaking that project again but am reluctant because I know how much time it takes... However, those scripted convoys were--well--memorable. Getting into the middle of a convoy after May 43 was a task in itself that required effort. But that's enough memory lane for now, Thank You again for your advice. I think I'll do as you suggest and set my own patrols. ![]() |

When i wrote the GWX based Campaign for the steel sharks that was six years of hard work but fun all written in the scripted leyer
for Convoy info I use uboat.net and convoyweb two great sites for convoy data. Re Late war Convoys had over 20 escorts and Support groups near by or hunter killer groups would arrive using the convoys as bait to hunt and kill the Uboats.
