Pacific Aces problem

Hello! I have a question about SH2/PA. I found convoy but escorts didn't attack me with depth charges. They always avoid me even with my max speed. AI is broken? It is quite strange because in SH1 DD always finish me with only few wabos in similar situations

I guess maybe the IJN high command told their escort skippers that just let the brave US sub capt'ns go and never chase 'em.Why they do so? Maybe merely out of the admiration of the gallantry shown by our Navy's finest.
