Default O memory, Where Art Thou

My memory sucks and sometimes it does it(and now it happened again)

The problem with my memory means that within 5-10 years I can expect to be blind on my left eye

For about 2˝-3 years I was living with an untreated eye disease Glaucoma.

In the afternoon and in the evening I had problems with my eyes, said to myself Tomorrow I will talk with my doctor so he can give me anreference to an ophthalmologist…..well next morning my eyes was ok and I had forgot everything about last nights or evenings problems with my eyes.

The same goes with my stomach

For years I had daily pain heavy pain in my stomach……
In the evening, some hours after dinner I had severe pain-suicide was an option....next day….everything ok and I had forgot everything about my pain evening before.
Now I know…milk or lactose and tomatoes is absolutely no go here.

When it comes to history and science one of my two favorite subject.

I have or I guess I have a huge knowledge when it comes to History of Religions-when posting some comments my head is filled with knowledge that I want to write in this comment….gone(not entirely more likely hidden)

Same goes with science about the univers.

This have been my problems for about 25-30 years or so.
My doctors can't find anything that could give them or me an solution to why my memory is bad and sometime very bad..

These problems have made me change my life into an automatic-living-style.(can't find a better word for it)

When I make dinner I stay near my stove from start to end...I can leave it but then I have nothing on my mind then….my stove.

When I have to take my eye drops I go straight into my kitchen and take one of my pipets and go thereafter directly to my bathroom….I do nothing else..
If my brain get occupied by something else….I totally forget my medicin.

You're not alone. I've always had a very good memory for long-ago things. I'm familiar with a lot of different aspects of history myself. I think that may be because I think about those things all the time. On the other hand I often can't remember what I came into this room for, or what I was doing five minutes ago. This isn't just about aging, as I've had it happening for most of my life.

I too have to be very careful with medications. Since my recent eye surgery I'm taking three different eyedrops four times per day. They have to be taken five minutes apart so the current one won't wash the last one out. I take them at set times, and if I forget I end up not taking any for several hours. More likely I'll take the first one, sit down at the computer and two hours later will suddenly remember the next one.

It drives you crazy sometimes.

Yea same here.
My longtime memory is not of this world. I can remember all way back to my own birth.

how does this help me, that I can remember what have been said by my mom, aunt and uncle when they where holding me on my way to be Baptist, when it is my shorttime memory I need.

That is a very clever title Markus.

Yea it is an age thing for me. Sometimes in the morning I find myself staring at the coffee maker and wondering why it's taking so long. Of course you have to turn it on.

I can remember a couple of snippets of things I did at age seven, but before that is all a jumble.

Long term memory still serves me well. But sometimes, which seems more often than I like to admit, I walk into a store and for the life of me I can't remember what the heck I was looking for. So I'll wander around until it comes back too me.
