I didn't place the name until I read the initialized version.
I still remember the controversy surrounding 'Centerfold'. Fun song, and another part of my past gone.

I remember dancing to a few of his hits as a young teen at non-alcoholic discos.

I noticed a few of the local and a couple of the national TV news outlets, while reporting on Geils' passing, played footage of the band prominently featuring lead vocalist Peter Wolf in such a way as to imply it was Wolf who was J. Geils. It is unfortunate that, even in passing, Geils is overshadowed and overlooked. Geils helmed a great band and was a respected musician...
RIP, J. Geils... <O>
