Default Jump over Snake River Canyon

Well, Evel, someone finally did it.

Not impressed. Evel won his fame jumping motorcycles over stuff. This was just a passenger in a rocket. I see no reason not to just fly over it in a plane.

Ditto. It's Idaho, there's nothing else to do there. I've driven over it, so there!

Likewise. What was the point of that? Shooting a rocket over the canyon that lands with a parachute? Mankind has done that for almost a century now. No comparison to Evel whatsoever.

FYI Evel tried the same thing with a steam powered rocket, the Skycycle X-2 but his attempt failed.

So saying it doesn't compare is a bit...weird especially considering that the Rocket used in this stunt is a replica of the Evel's Skycycle X-2.

I stand corrected then. I thought he had tried that in a car.
Guess I remembered wrong then.

I thought it was cool. They built a Skycycle like Evel's and a guy rode it over the canyon, it's not quite as safe as an airplane. That thing went 0-400 in about 4 seconds, that must have been a kick. Looked pretty cool but all the videos I've seen lose the cycle in the sun, they should have made the launch early in the morning, maybe.

Just so there's no confusion over my post, I said the same thing back when Evel himself did it. Not impressed.

Steve it's basically the same mode of transport Evel used. He just didn't make it due to a faulty parachute. Eddie had no problems and his jump was a success. Hats off to him.... and to Evel too as he worked just as hard. Not many of us would have the balls to try it.
