Hello all!
I allways open my torpedo tubes before i fire, and it has allways work as expected. However since a few days ago, i open them and then they close themselves! e.g. Target is getting close to 5º, i intent to fire tubes 1 & 2, so i select tube 1, press "Q" and i can hear the door opening, then i do the same for tube 2 (i can also hear the door opening). Then when i fire, i have to WAIT for the tubes to open! as they have apparently closed themselves. ![]() This is annoying to no end. I notice it only seems to happen when i attempt to open multiple tubes. And not every time. I have tried pressing "Q" multiple times for each tube, waiting more (or less) between switching tubes, etc. no go. Is this a known bug? is there any solution? Im using GWX3.0 thanks in advance |

It's an old glitch. Been around awhile. If you open a tube, select another tube, then go back to the tube you first opened, it will close automatically. You have to go into your configuration files and change it. I really cannot recall where it's at. But, if you change these files, and later on use a mid that changes any file later, it wipes it clean and will close tubes again.

Open one tube and the one that's already opened closes again? It's always been that way. The only way to open multiple tubes at once is to select 'Salvo' or manually flip the switches from the WE position or the conning tower.
I always fire one at a time anyway, since historically even with a salvo they fired 8-10 seconds apart so they wouldn't interfere with each other.

Open the tubes in 3d - Weapons Officer or Inside Conning Tower - and then switch between open tubes in TDC screen.
They stay open until you close them, dive below 25 (?) meters or switch on a "Not-TDC" screen. You may want to keep the finger off the trigger (here the tube door) until you really want to shoot?

To avoid this, follow this method : if you want to fire 2 and 4, then open first the last tube, here tube 4, then click on tube 2 and open it : tube 4 will remain open. So you can fire tube 2, and when clicking on tube 4, it's already open !

Good posts above. I'll add my way of doing it.
I decide which tubes I want ready. Switch to salvo and find the salvo config that matches my plan. Open tubes. Switch to single launch. All intended tubes are now open and ready for single launches. Another thing is, with GWX3 and some mods, I can no longer click on any of the tube door switches. The cursor changes colour as if they were clickable but nothing happens. This goes for the switches at the W.E. station and conning tower alike. |

What i cant understand is why it started happening now, i have allways opened my tubes the same way, and it dint happen before.
I will try the methods you suggested. As some of you suggested, I guess the obvious way to fire more than one simultaneously would be to use the salvo feature! There are two reasons i dont use it: 1 - There is some diabolical bug in my brain that makes me allways forget to set the spread angle, so i end up watching my torpedoes pass in front and behing the ship ![]() 2 - Firing one at a time, i get twice the morbid pleasure of pressing the Fire button. ![]() I guess it would be best to post a sticky on my monitor, or get a tatoo that says "set the spread angle!" And start using salvos LOL BTW, i notice some people give tought to wich tubes they are going to fire, i usually just select 1&2. Is there a reason i should fire the tubes in a particular order (e.g. 2 & 4 or 1 & 3, etc)? Thanks for your replies guys |

Well, I guess this explain why I never had problems with tubes closing themselves. I always open them ('Q") from back to front, tube 4, 3, 2, and 1. Then firing sequence from tube 1 to tube 4.

I tried opening them last to first (e.g. 3 to 1), but they still close themselves
![]() oh well, i guess its not a big deal. Ill just open/fire one at a time, or ill use salvos. |
