Default Photo mission problem?

Received an objective to do a recon of a harbor (Bandar Seri Begawan, N coast of Borneo).

Passed a warship of unknown type 30+ nm NE of the harbor (it was daylight, I stayed deep to get by the sound contact), snuck into the shallow water on the surface at night and found a seriously active tug boat acting like a harbor patrol boat, plus two gun boats in the docks - a Hira and an Atami.

Looked/snapped a pic at the tug (and fired several fish at it, during the course of the night, but he's too fast and erratic), then bypassed him and got within 500 yards of the docks (submerged), looked/snapped pics of the two gunboats. I do not see any other ships in the area, and yet my photo mission will not complete.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to complete this?

I don't know what mods you are using - if any.

Keep locking on to and snapping pictures of all ships that you can see, even if you have already taken the photo's. Sometimes this works.

You may be trying to perform one of the broken recon missions......

Initially there was a fix for the broken photo recons in Stock by Dgrayson

Most recently the photo recon missions were fixed by Webster in his GFO 1.1 mod.

If you are using another super-mod like TMO & RFB the missions are all fixed (rewritten), and 'doable'.

Happy Hunting!

OK, it might be that patrol contact I dodged coming in to the area, or it might be something on the other side of the harbor - it looks like there is a town on the other side, up a narrow channel. If it spawned a ship in there, I'll have to take a big risk to get in close to see it. If that doesn't solve the problem I'll just go hunt ships and end the patrol with an incomplete objective.

P.S. - I'm running TMO 2.5, EZPlot, and TMO Keys.

Any ship within the radius of the circle in the mission. I think in Stock, for example it is 8 nm. In several missions Ducimus used a Radius of 10.000 (Ten).

It will be listed in the *.mis file of that mission. You can open the files with a text editor like notepad. It probably is that Patrol Craft that you evaded. : )

Good luck
