Excellent news, lets hope it's in the old tradition (clean, no sex or violence)

I'd put it in the primary timeline, after the events of the destruciton of Romulus, which is set in a federation weakened by the Dominion war, Romulan empire on the verge of collapse and the Klingon empire in internal turmoil.
Which makes every power in the alpha quadrant to weak to start wars and makes more room for exploration and intrigue. |

Who let that Tribble in here?
![]() The original series never lived up to the hype spewed during the intro. The five year mission plot to seek out new life and new civilizations wasn't always followed. Instead it was always some border dispute or other flaming duck that the Enterprise crew was sent to mediate or stomp on. Always a protagonist/antagonist confrontation with copious amounts of phaser and photon torpedo exchanges. I'd rather see Stargate SG-1 make a return.

I actually liked DS-9. The whole concept of a bunch of individuals way out on the fringes of the galaxy, most, if not all of whom, really weren't at all happy with being there or were forced to be there, having to deal withe each other over matters personal and organizational was intriguing. I mean, even the Captain didn't hide his deep dislike of his new command; he wasn't another of those bold, heroic, straight-shooters captains in the other series. The fact they were on a station that was not the sharpest vehicle around made for even more interest since DS-9 wasn't some ultra-high tech starship with all the mod cons. The show kind of reminded me of those old war films where enemy troops face off on the front lines in an uneasy truce and have to deal with all manner of immediate problems and intrigue, including having to, at times, cooperate with the very individuals who are supposed to be your enemy. I think in the overall hierarchy of the ST TV series thus far, DS-9 is very much underrated...

DS-9 is shunned by trekies because it was too dark and gritty and too off of what Roddenberry envisioned for the future
buuuuut... Exploration is not a comfortable business. Hillary didn't climb everest in shorts and grilled čevapčiči on top. Quote:
