Default Global maritime strategy games

I wonder, have you ever enjoyed playing a global maritime strategy game? What kind of experience it was?

I've recently accomplished the UK campaign in Imperial Glory game. That's an old turn based strategy game of 1790-1830 period, pretty close to old total war series. The reason I enjoyed it, was an experience of combining global naval strategy game and politics. Creating your fleet, hunting for the enemy's fleet, hiding your weak squadrons in protected ports until reinforcements arrive, blockading enemy trade routes, establishing North Africa colonies, landing troops in Crimea, struggling for dominance over the seas... Just like Julian Corbett in his "Some principles of maritime strategy" wrote.
But the game is actually not as perfect as I've described. Although it's challengeable in general, it's not enough challengeable on the sea. I performed everything I've mentioned and maritime strategy was the main part of my own strategy. But I just won the campaign before I'd built any single linear warship, with a couple frigates and about 30 sloops. Opponent empires had strong land army, but not the fleet, so the only fleet command problem to solve was urgent deployment my troops from African colonies to Northern Europe, to protect my land demesnes and stuff like that.
I also played Rome 1: Total War once, Greek campaign, that also means a lot of sea activities. (Yep, it was a good experience, as long as I still remember that) And strong fleet helped me to succeed - I had practiced in piracy, engaging ashore cities, and that brought me plenty of gold and region dominance.

By the way, that game seems to be finished and likely to go on sale in the next few days

Yes, I've read descriptions, and it sounds awesome, as that's a game, I dreamed about. If only it would have the same appearance. Anyhow, it's going to be a worth-to-play game, spending there decades of hours. It's much more interesting to play dedicated naval game, instead general with naval components.
Maybe someone would be so nice to share here his experience of playing it in a month?

By the way, there's another global game I want to try, called Pacific Storm Allies. I even launched it a few years ago, but it seemed to be a monster-management game. Maybe, I'll succeed this time?
