Default Obs. scope

Hi,

I would like to set the Obs. scope to the same hight as the att. scope, I know this isn't realistic but seeing the game cheats in so many ways I'm allowed one or two 'cheats' myself

Anyhow, could someone tell me in what file and where to find those settings.

Thanks,

HJ

not sure but I think it sits about 1m higher then the attack periscope so lower your depth 1m when using it and it will be at the depth you want

it can be done but im not sure where the file is (been a loooong time since I modded) but if you lower it too much it can show sticking out the bottom of the sub because it is hidden by the sub but is made as one solid rod as far as the game is concerned so it doesn't simulate it retracting or extending, it only goes up or down

Thats just it, it isn't... I need to set depth at 52ft instead of periscope depth to be able to see anything through it otherwise the water keeps blurring up my view.

If you or anyone else remembers where to look for it would be much appreciated.

Is that in a situation where the attack scope works fine? Because sometimes the seas are just rough like that.

Nope, calm seas. It simply doesn't go as high as the att. scope

What's the difference between the two scopes? I haven't found any, myself.

Depends on whether it's stock or a mod. The main difference is the Observation scope has a greater range of motion. Meaning, it can look almost straight up.....although not quite. The upward movement is greater than the Attack scope. Both have the same magnification, and Field of View (FoV). Some mods change the lens brightness, to have the Observation scope appear brighter during night operations. If a mod enabled it, the SST (Radar Transmitter) is housed in the Observation scope. It becomes available later in the war. The idea is for a sub to raise the Obs scope while at periscope depth and have the radar screen show what's out there. It's been a while since I looked at it but the game doesn't really have this capability. The Dev's never got around to implementing this feature, although it's modeled. So are Radar Covers for the Radar sets. They were to be used over the units between the start time of the game Dec. 1941 and mid 1942 when most Radar units become available for upgrades. They were never properly implemented either.

Historically, the Observation scope was used to look for planes before surfacing. It was also considered a backup if something went wrong with the Attack scope. Although its not rendered in-game, periscopes were known to fog on occasions, leak too. A sub having a second eye to the world is just as important as it is to us.
