Default USNS Barrett (T-AP-196)

I was wondering, if anyone could dig up any information on the USNS Barrett, my grandpa brought her up and it was one of the ships he was on while going to vietnam..he seemed really upset when i told him it had been scrapped but i was wondering, maybe its still out there? because ive read some things that make me question this, such as hearing that she got turned into some sort of hotel or something like that, it would really mean alot to me if you guys could find something on her..and im sure it would mean the world to him

Sorry to be the one to tell you. Go to this link:

I feel the same way about the CVA 38 USS Shangri-La. And the CVA 67 John F. Kennedy.

USNS BARRETT: http://www.navsource.org/archives/09/22/22196.htm As of June 2013, she is not in the James River ghost fleet...and was sold for scrap. Also known as Empire State V, a training academy vessel.

I felt like he did when my boat got scraped as well. I almost stole the bell when I departed ... I should have in hindsight.
