First off: Dont try it. You have a 85% chance of death.
Went down there on my way to CJ21 or such and had a good time so far. Sunk a British freighter and Greek landing ship, as well as taking down an aircraft and damaging his wingman. (Tip: If you're confident, keep a flak crew on deck with a Fire at Will order. Your watch officer should be good enough watch crew.) Closed into Malta at about 1854 hours after getting by the patrolling destroyers and corvettes. Ther was a lone intermediate tanker within, and my only chance was for me to set magnetics. Malta is extremely shallow, so, after sending three fish under the tanker and a Falke at a too close for comfort destroyer, I took a look at the tanker with the free cam. His bow was on the floor and his props were above water. So I reloaded, but the SECOND I turned off silent running, a corvette locked on to me, rammed the conning tower and sent be to the shallow bottom, where he promptly called his friends to have a 'Lets go crap on a UBoat that I found' party. Flooding started in all aft compartments, and I hoped I could just sit there and repair the damage, but no such luck. And even with the tower destroyed, I had flak power from the other tower (U-74 w/ VIIB /2 turm). I could have made it back to port.
