Java issue may be
Every so often I get a screen coming up here and only here so far on Subsims saying my java is out of date which I find odd as this is a new PC less than ten weeks old and I have never downloaded java on this PC. Anyone throw any light on this strange issue thanks.
BTW: Win8.1

Two of the most commonly updated programs are Flash and Java. If you ever get a pop-up about installing these then go to the proper websites and dl from there and don't click the links.
Just being paranoid, but safe.

Just to clearify this - you mean Java, not JacaScript, yes?
Java could have crept aboard along some other software you downloaded and which said software needs to run. Some games may be coded in Java, for example. There is no reliable way to just switch Java off. It must be deinstalled. To check whether Java is installed, you can try these three basic methods. 1. In command line interface, type "java -version". If that gives you information of any kind, then a java runtime environment is installed. 2. You can go to www.sun.com, somewhere there is an onlpine tool that can checkl and display which version you have installed, of so. 3. If it is Sun Java, I think I had it listed in the system-list of software that you use to deinstall software, when years ago I used Java. Java is a big security hole. If you do not need it, get rid of it (and there is no argument at all for Windows PCs to use Java). I think in some browsers it can get installed by and in the browser. I would always opt against that. Else, what Herr Berbunch said. Somehow, the kind of appearance it makes on your system smells fishy. How is your system security set up? How is your regular system maintenance?

Careful that you do not install it when it is not present on your system.
