Default Installation and resolution widescreen

Hello I'm trying to resintall the game but I want to know if it possible to play the game with GWX and some few mod on a resolution 1920/1080 without some strange that happened to me when I tried to install it with fiew things.

Sh3 + Patch + GWX (with no activation of these mods) and the resolution fix.

I tried to put the resolution that I want but it was so scary nothing was at the good place . All was approximatly centered to the left. When I was on the peri I saw external view with my guys outside behind the scope...
I try the native resolution of the fix 1360/768 it works too but I don't think that it was correct. On the navmap when I say to my guy to draw the course to the kief canal, he dit that but if we follow the course we do that throw the land.

I hope that what I mean it's understandable . English is not my language.

I personally let my videocard driver scale the output of the game to 1920x1080. So I don't need the widescreen mod. Also, the game expects a resolution of 1024x768 to place all the screen content. So with a widescreen resolution some parts of the screen would not be used, or it would get stretched out of proportion. I'll let other with more experience respond to this.

As for the Kiel Kanal route. This is likely not caused by the resolution. It is probably because you have an improperly placed waypoint (or none at all). The game just adds the waypoints to what is already there. So first place your own waypoint on the spot, and let the game add to it.

The only problem I had with the hi res mod was that when you clicked out of a scope view the cursor lands on the fire button and launches a torpedo. The fix for me was to install the Hitman Optics UI which moved the fire button, among other things.

What do you mean by that ? You'v got the game like a recent game wich support recent resolution ? Is that possible for me? I have a Radeon 7970.

Because before I tried to fix the resolution it was only on 1024/768 plenty of my display but the graphisms were too bad. I thought I was in 1995 with an old pc .

@Steve
Wich fix do you use ? I tried the "Conus SH3GWXWS 2.3" because I had the GWX 3.

Already I'm trying just a basic install with only SH3 and the basic fix "SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b.zip\" for see if it works.

No, the game still thinks it is 1024x768. It is just that it is stretched by hardware to maintain aspect ratio to 1920x1080 (read: stretch and add black borders left and right) before output to the screen. I think the widescreen mod does something similar, but in a makeshift way with a special DLL. I have a Nvidia chipset so I have to change some settings in my Nvidia Control Panel, but it is built-in and automatic. I'm pretty sure ATI/Radeon will have something similar. But you will have to do your own experimenting as I don't have that software.

It does introduce some blurryness. But that is less of a problem for me than an elliptic periscope view. As far as I know Makman's Magui Widescreen mod is the only one that properly makes use of al the extra pixels by rearranging the GUI. But I have yet to try it out for myself. [EDIT] No, he's not the only one anymore. I guess I lost track of what happened on this front.

The Kiel Canal courselines unfold into the quadrant the last leg of your own plotted course heads to. Approaching the inbound point from the south-west (=> heading north-east) will unfold the course to the north-east - following the canal perfectly. The outbound point works accordingly.
