Default Which Mod?

Ok guys, i'm completely confused.

I have vanilla SH5, am I better downloading Sobers' mod list or Open Horizons II? Which one is the "all in one" package?

Thanks

The mega mods are a compilation of various mods. Sobers list is just that... a list of mods you need to install that makes up his Mega Mod.

There is no "all in one" mod, like GWX for SH3, that you can install for SH5.

You can however install all of the mods in Sober's list, or ones from it that you feel will improve your stock unmodified vanilla SH5. Various member's have lists they use that they've posted that you can also try. It all boils down to what you think is best for you.

BTW... if you find a recent list by me, it was a test that I tried and it didn't work quite right....pass on it.

To install your mods go here and download Sober's MEP file. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=3492 He has a great explanation of how and why a MEP file is used, and how to use it. If you don't use all of the mods he has listed you can edit it and install those that you want. But make a copy of his and edit that one.

This is wrong

Not exactly like GWX (there is not auto-installer, and some manual tweaking is still required, mostly for patching the game with TDW's patcher), but they get pretty close

Answering OP's dilemma: all of SH5's megamods (both the all-in-one packs linked above, and the long mod lists deviced by Sober, Fifi and Sijzzle) do feature Open Horizons

Gap, by wrong do you mean it's a one click install for either "The Wolves of Steel" and ""Wolfes From The Deep mega mods?

I haven't downloaded or installed either, but from looking at the lists I figured you needed to install each included mod or at the least use a MEP file. If it is a one click "all in one" install then I'm wrong and will edit out what I wrote before. "Sorry about that Chief."

Hey Gary, by saying that your statement is wrong, I meant that the mods composing respectively "The Wolves of Steel" and ""Wolfes From The Deep" have been optimized for reciprocal compatibility, and merged into one huge JSGME-ready mod package. The long process of downloading single mods, and their enabling through MEP files, are no longer needed.

But, as I wrote before, there is no auto-installer yet, and besides the mod enabling (which is done through one single click, after dropping the single package into the MODS folder), the manual patching of the game with a preset assortment of TDW's patches (using an included "snapshot"), is still required: the inclusion of pre-patched files would be a bit risky, as it would involve the distribution of files of code, intellectual property of Ubisoft)

Ok, I understand Gap. Boy have we cornfused him now. I know I am. But then again and old phart like me is easily cornfused by all this technical stuff. LOL

No matter what, he has to sit back and read what each mod does and figure out how it will improve his SH5 to his liking. These days that is a daunting task with so many mods out there. After my time away I was amazed by what you guys have been doing with mods and the amount of changes made. But it's still worth the time to check them out and update the list you use.
