Default Trouble With JSGME

Hello there,

After a bit of a hiatus I have decided to start playing the old SH4 again. Looking around the forum got me excited to play again. After installing the game and downloading the U boat missions I am trying to download JSGME and have run into a bit of an issue. Forgive me if this is as simple of a problem as I think it is but after I download the file it asks what program I would like to open it with. Now as I remember previously it would just go straight to the installation process. Anyway thanks for the help and best of luck.

I assume you are talking about a .zip file?

If so, the best program I know of is 7-zip. You can get it at this site:
http://www.7-zip.org/

It's free, and will open most common file archives.

Oh, and welcome aboard!

You should get 7zip, you probably DONT have a zip file, since windows knows how to handle them, but if you gave a 7z or rar file (which are quite common here) you'll need 7zip. It handles a ton of compression formats and is all around a good utility to have installed.

Default Thanks

Thanks, that must have been the issue. I had just assumed I had such an application already installed but apparently not. Thanks again, there is no telling how long I would have been tied up with that as it had me a bit confused but all is ship shape now.

Make sure you read through this tutorial and its associated links for using JSGME and assorted mods. Failure to follow instructions leads to many errors by users ... and their subsequent flogging.
