Hello,
I did a model of the Polish Grom class destroyers. ![]() ![]() The basic model is that of the Blyskawica after re-fitting in 1941; however, early equipment is included. Known issue: Camouflage schemes are made using best estimates of colours of the respective time. So, late schemes tend to be largely greenish. I am aware, internet photographs of Blyskawica as a museum often sport plenty of blue. This is especially striking with photographs showing her in a 1941 Western Approaches Scheme. However, those schemes used off white as the base tone but not baby blue ... DL: http://www.mediafire.com/download/g7...D_Grom_mod.zip ![]() |

@sailorX:
Well, there were also just two Nelsons, two Bismarcks, two xxx ... @Leitender: As stated, the base model is the end-1941 configuration. During the refit, Blyskawica's original rangefinder/director was replaced by a British high-angle director, equiped with a 285 gunnery radar; also a sea-/air-warning radar was added. However, I couldn't find any reference to a specific instrument but the most common device at that time was the 286 ... |

Hi the_frog,
thanks for your answer. I found a model kit site, where the ORP Blyskawica is shown in late war (1943-1944) condition. It shows the 285 6 Yagi Antenna fire control radar on the bridge, a 290/291 radar antenna on top of the mast and probably a 271 radar at the stern. Please take a look: http://smmlonline.com/articles/blysk...lyskawica.html Maybe the 290/291 Radar replaced an older one... Greetings |

Fantastic work the_frog, especially for Polish players like me
![]() ORP Grom (H 71) was sinked in Narvik by German bombers He 111 during campaign in Norway, but ORP Błyskawica (H 34) happily survived the war and is a museum-ship now in Gdynia. I strongly recommend you visit this destroyer during your trip to Poland. |

@leitender:
The 290/291 array was introduced in late 1941, so it could be the Blyskawica received it right during the 1941 refit ![]() @jaxa: All textures representing post-1940 colour patterns do have only the H34 pennant painted on ![]() I visited Blyskawica several years ago (2006 or so). At that time, I had no camera with me, and also no idea of ever doing a 3D model of her ... |

I couldn´t find original pictures of the Blyskawica with radar antennas fitted. Maybe they have been removed from the pictures. Today it still/again has the 290/291 aerial. Off topic: jaxa In 2006 you wrote a really excellent article about german radars and radar warning receivers. I use it widely as a source: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom//showthread.php?t=94024 In the meantime, i found a great internet site from a polish expert about the radar equipment aboard german uboats. It´s really worth to take a look on it: http://www.ubootwaffe.pl/en/u-boats/...german-u-boats Greetings |

@leitender: the radar equipment in the *.sns is that of the British escorts in SH3; it's historically not correct.
@WTCC: there are nice models of the late-war Flowers converted from SH4/5. The model of the Blacks Swans is one better SH3 models. Town class destroyers are not in the original SH3, only in GWX. I consider doing a model but not so soon; I have other plans. @JapLance: some progess with the E class? |
