Default How to end Naval Academy missions ?

I have not played for ages and have spent last half-hour searching in vain for answer to my question.

Its after doing the torpedoes exam, and sinking all the targets, message from BDU says something like "Congratulations etc. etc. you have graduated the torpedoes exam, or whatever".

I then surface and hit Escape key, which prompts 'Abandon Mission?' Y/N.

After pressing Y it prompts 'return to base'?

Press Y and am taken back to Naval Academy start screen which says, 'no exam taken'. I am starting this by selecting the Exam icon and not tutorial, so do not get what I am doing wrong.

Know its gonna be a simple one ( please ) but its driving me up the wall.

Thanks in advance to all of you nice people.....I feel silly and am off to start cooking some food now. Its cheese on toast BTW.

I believe that's all there is to it. Been a long time so I'm a little fuzzy on this but if you now start a new career you should have 1000 renown points for successfully completing any of the three exams.

Thanks a ton for your reply mate !

However I 'done' the Navigation + Artillery without having this problem when ending the exam. Really cant remember doing anything differently to end these missions than with the torpedo exam though.

Ah well....cheese on toast was v. nice mate

Torpedo Exam?

Is that the one with the skittish tramp steamer that starts dead in the water but suddenly goes to 220 knots the moment you loose a torp at it?

Been a long time since I nailed that ship. I'll give it a go and report back.

Extra cheese on mine but hold the pickle...

Ok. After sinking all five, wait for the dialogue box to open which says "Congratulations...'

Hit 'escape' and click 'exit patrol'.

Remember to select exam, not training, when starting the tutorial.

Job done.

Strange glitches do happen but when this happened to me, it was because I failed to click on 'Exam' before starting. It is also good practice to be on the surface when you 'Abandon the mission' . . .

I always leave the stationary tramp steamer till last and the hit it with three torpedoes while I am on the surface at a range of under 500Metres - that way it goes down before it has a chance to get underway.
