Default My first time in Silent Hunter 5

I opened this topic, to thank all of the 'spectacular welcome in your forum. I already knew him a long time for the famous mod GWX3, but I started playing for the first time only in SH5. Having for many years the 'hobby of military modeling of the Second World War, I know quite well the details of military vehicles. I was very impressed by the great work of improving your mod, in a very detailed game, which is a very realistic simulator.
I would like to use this topic in the coming days to list the problems that continue to have with my original game (without mods). To understand if it is only a problem of my game, or maybe it depends on Uplay.
Especially random crashes.

A special greeting to the modders .....

I loved it .... 'Viking Steel interior mod'

No, SH5 needs to be patched to 1.2. Then in order to have SH5 playable you need the mods installed. Don't get me wrong. SH5 can be played without the mods but you'll hate it due to the ingame bugs. Many tried it that way and gave up on it.... until the mods came out by our very talented mod makers. Many of the mods fix those bugs that made the unfinished SH5 what is was... a mess.

There are three things you need to do for stability IMHO:

1. You need to use Time Compression within certain limits. As a general rule never go above 512, keep to within 8 or 16 in busy areas.
2. Run a 64bit OS with plenty of RAM.
3. Follow experienced players guidance on Mod lists to begin with.

Use plenty of game saves to protect you from frustration, I hardly ever crash now in SH5 following those three rules.

YES, run a 64bit OS with plenty of RAM. I found that out too. And it's the reason I went with 8.1 64 bit with 16GBs of DDR3 RAM.

And plenty of Game Saves is VERY crucial to your piece of mind. It hurts knocking your head against the wall because you didn't save like you should have. Don't ask me how I know.
