It seems like its the same rolling seas every time. is there ever a calm day?

No, not really; but some times there's rain, storm or fog.

Try the Med , I use my deck gun to finish off my target , at night I never use torpedoes. North Atlantic depends on time of year, but even in winter u shuld get a few good days a patrol.
