Default looking for info on crew stats and a torpedo loading question

hi can anyone point me to any thread that explains the crew stats like expierience and qualifications what they really mean and how much of a difference they make and how and if i can promote people.

And my other question is wen ive used all my torpedoes for the front torpedo bays i move to my stern torpedoes but i use 1 and then when i want it to reload the last torpedo it says waiting to load or something but never starts reloading. i hve enough people in the the torpedo department . thx

I am still trying to figure out the crew stats too! In my first game with the stock SH3 I had one officer who never tired and was always at 100% - I still haven't figured out why!

As for reloading stern torps - I don't usually leave them until last because it makes good sense to use them as soon as the first opportunity arises. The single internal reserve torp can be reloaded provided the green line for the crew is at least half way along and the boat is not rigged for silent running. The torp stored externally can only be loaded whilst on the surface and takes about an hour.

Is it part of GWX, or is it also in the stock game, that you cannot reload tubes in rough water? If the seas are rough, you'll need to dive down a bit (20m or so?) so the boat is stable enough for reloading to start.

EDIT:
Do you have the Realism- and gameplay-related hardcode fixes for SH3.EXE mod installed?

7. Internal torpedo reload fix
No reload of internal torpedoes during storm and when surfaced. During storm one has to dive below 16m in order to reload internal torpedoes.

Reloading and/or torpedo movement will not occur if:

1) the Weapons Officer's slot in the control room is empty

2) Silent Running is engaged

3) you have unchecked the AUTO LOADING box in the upper left corner of the torpedo loadout screen (Press the letter "i" key to see it). You have to manually move each eel from a tube to an empty internal storage slot and manually reload the desired eel. With AUTO LOADING checked, you can shuffle the internal reload eels around to change the order in which they are reloaded.

Moving eels from external to internal storage will not occur when you are submerged.

Reloading and/or movement is faster if you have an officer in the compartment. He does not need to be torpedo qualified.
