Agreed. I doubt it will ever get solved. Certainly not to everyones satisfaction. Very like the Azaria Chamberlain case here in the 70s. It still crops up with questions occasionally

There's more to this story.(?) Cover-ups, corruption, other motives at work here, not just a straight-forward kidnapping case, me thinks.
Other question i have is: i am aware that the parents were dining in a near-by restaurant at the time of the kidnapping. The child was, what, 4, 5 years old? Did she have a babysitter? Someone to mind the child whilst unattended? Negligence on the parents' behalf?
I'm not aware of the exact details of the night of the kidnap, but if there WASN'T a minder or sitter present, then i'm sorry but that is pretty poor.
Even though the restaurant wasn't far, it is asking for trouble.

Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann say their review of the case suggests it was a premeditated abduction.
New theories have shifted detectives' focus to a second, later sighting of a man carrying a child at around the same time the three-year-old's parents discovered she was missing.
