How can I make the map background darker (or make the contact icons darker)

A pointer to a file would be good (I have the DDS plugin for Photoshop)

look in the sh4/data/terrain folder for the maps and terrain images

Would you happen to know which files are the contact icons specifically? I'm trying to make adjustments to merchants, warships, planes, and sub icons etc. that show up on the maps?

Edit: Nevermind I've found the files. (took a lot of file scanning though

)
