Nice work Fifi. Just a couple of remarks:

- the bino mask is a bit pixelated around the lens border. What about making it a bit smoother?

- I like your idea of getting the background out of focus, and to make left and right sides black. Ideally, we should see only scope's tube. Yet, it looks like periscop frame was truncated, especially the two handles. Any way to get them back?

Yes, i noticed original dds file is pixelated too...that's why it's still there...
I'll see what can be done to smooth it

This one is going to be hard. Because of picture size i adapted around the stock manos scopes lens (didn't want to mess it, first, and furthermore it's a nice one).
The 2 left and right black background are giving trouble to see the handles...and i wanted to keep them black for the purpose you said
I'm not expert enough to decrease their vertical size, so they leave space for the handles.
+ the periscope mask should be sized like an inverted T, instead of squared one...
Have to think about, but it might be over my capacities

MatFlags=0x29 is 0x20 + 0x08 + 0x01. I don't know by heart what 0x20 means, i'll have to look into the DirectX headers. But it's not a value you normally encounter.

The reason I say to set everything to 0x9 is because you are changing state in the DirectX pipeline everytime you switch from 1 to 9. Every time you change state it costs CPU cycles. Changing DirectX render states is the slowest thing to do and really can dampen frame rates.
Good to know makes me realise even more how complex is all that stuff!

I'll update soon to new version with smoothed binocular mask and new UZO file name compatible with last patcher.

Sorry Fifi, I didn't get time to work on scope background textures, and the U-boat guns patch is still waiting for me

I will inform you whenever I get time for your mod
