Default Enemy Hydrophones on the surface.

Enemy Hydrophones on surface, I have noticed that there are mods to prevent the U-boats from using their hydrophones on the surface, but I have noticed that the nemy ships can steam along with their hydrophones active, and they are able to hear me at silent running at over 200 meters underwater, even though this radio is small, its enough for them to bother you and prevent you from doing anything.

A u-boat had two kinds of hydrophones. One is in a array in the bow. It can't hear straight forward or aft. It also can't hear on the surface because the bow wake is foaming all around it. The second type is mounted up on the deck. I works better than the first type but can't hear while surfaced because it's not even in the water.

A surface ship has the hydrophone and sonar projector in a dome underneath the ship. It is specifically designed to hear submarines underwater, or else it wouldn't work at all. Funny thing is, it can't hear you while you are surfaced.

The hydrophone hearing underwater in SH5 is a holdover from SH4. SH4 let submarines hear while surfaced because the American subs had their hydrophones and sonar gear in a dome under the keel of the sub.

Historically that is correct that they can hear you no matter how deep you go.
For first year of war English destroyers did not sunk many U-Boots mostly because they believed that German subs can not submerge that deep so their charges were missing all the way.
They used AZTEC , that is Aztec Underwater Detection system, pretty good stuff for finding subs and numbers confirm that.
Kriegsmarine had 40 000 submariners and 30 00 died till the end of the war. Highest mortality rate of all sides in war.
You can read this about AZTEC Bold part in the middle if you do not want the whole story

No offense, but you might want to re-educate yourself. The device was called ASDIC.

Thank you. I believe that everything else is true. No offense taken.
