SH4 Multiplayer questions

I read that the SH4 multiplayer lets you play as Japanese destroyers. How does Sh4 multiplayer work? How is the gameplay? Are the servers still active?

Just wondering. In case I ever get a connection fast enough to play.

There are two different modes. There is co-op, which is self explanatory. Then there is the competitive mode which allows the server host to control the escorts. Never played the competitive mode. Also, Ubi shut down the SH4 servers, so online play may require some 3rd party software to connect. Never thought about it too much. I have a friend of mine who comes over and we have LAN parties. He doesn't have anywhere the skill I do, which is why I have never done competitive. I would have him reading the stock numbers off the individual depth charges.

This would be a nice mod, if it could be possible to play a german oder japanese destroyer over LAN (MP)!

Is this possible? Sub Vs. Destroyer with working depth charge? Or maybe a other freighter as human victim?
