Default American legal dramas

I have just been watching a tv drama set in an American courtroom. This featured someone acting as prosecutor in the courtroom but then going off to conduct interviews in what must have been a police station with suspects afterwards. Is this tv bollocks or does this happen in the US? In the UK the prosecutor in court has noting to do with intervieiwng suspects outside the court as far as i know. Just wondering.

There is nothing preventing a prosecutor from interviewing suspects. It is not commonly done though

In Canada, a prosecutor would interview potential witnesses before a trial to go over their testimony and see how reliable they are before they go into court.

Normally, a prosecutor is way too busy to spend time interviewing suspects. That is best done by the police.
