Default Model Rail Live, Barrow Hill Roundhouse (Very pic heavy!)

Few pics for you guys and gals

Had a trip to Barrow Hill Roundhouse at the weekend for their now annual Model Railway Exhibition ‘Model Rail Live’

The Roundhouse is the only preserved engine shed of its kind in the UK, and is always well worth a visit. Me my dad have been going for years and always enjoy it. If you want any more info, their website is the best place to look http://www.barrowhill.org/

Anyway, on with the pics

70013 Oliver Cromwell was on the shuttle train when we arrived

Inside on the turntable was a very shiny Class 20 in GB Railfreight livery

A topless Class 58

Few arty shots of a pair of Class 20s outside

Black 5 45110 and the 03 doing brake van rides

Class 20s again

Class 37 and the back end of the shuttle

Old Ollie

Gun Powder Van, in Royal Navy livery

Wider view of the Class 20s from the coaling stage

The Brighton Belle, currently being restored at the roundhouse to be put back in service on the mainline!

Class 71 E5001, a rather unusual electric loco used in the Southern Region. It could be powered by both electrified third rail and overhead catenary

A view of the huge collection of locos and rolling stock in storage there. Unfortunately its doubtful many of those will ever run again

My favourite layout of the day, this was superbly done. The photos don’t do it justice

Into the Deltic Preservation Society’s shed

Deltic Class 55 D9015 ‘Tulyar’

One of the Deltic engines, some of which were also used in Frigates and Minesweepers

Peak Class 45 (iirc lol)

08

The first time a main line shuttle service has operated directly on site from Chesterfield Station

Class 37 and Cromwell

Shuttle train: soon

The Lancs & Yorks loco on the front of the shuttle

And that’s yer lot. A really good day out, definitely recommended if you happen to be nearby. It’s open most weekends on non-event days for you to just wander around.
Sorry for so many pics haha.

Those are all nice, and I would love to see them up close, but the Oliver Cromwell takes pride of place.
