Default External under water view camera

Hi all,

How do I view my sub, following it's movements, externally under water.

Tx,

In the % realistic settings allow the exterrnal view camera box and then click on the round icon on the top right corner

1. I've done that, my sub keeps on moving away from my view.

2. Also, how do I view other ships around me?

3. If I install any major UI mod, I keep on getting all sorts of blank menus open which I cannot close, whether I run as administrator or not. Any help please?

Have you updated your SH5 installation to v 1.2? Many mods don't support anymore former versions of the game.

Yes, I did upgrade. And, yes, I'd like a chase view that follows my sub & that I can use to pan around it, even underwater. And I'd like a chase view to pan around objects close to me.

With all UI mods, my TAI map i.e. stays blank & open in the left bottom corner & I simply cannot close it. Most other UI interface buttons work & if I select Shift Z, then it closes everything, but when I return those annoying blank open menus are back again.

The UI mod that works best & leaves only the TAI map blank & open = Ui-Boat V5.0. All the other UI mods leave multiple blank faceplates open which cannot be closed. If I can somehow configure the sim not to open the default TAI, then this mod might work perfect for me as is. TAB does not open or close it. Note: In this test I installed no other mod but Ui-Boat V5.0.

Even if I install AOTD_RDA Beta V1.03 as a stand alone mod, I experience same.

Afaik there's not such a chase view in SH5, and honestly I cannot see what would be its utility, other than for eye candy maybe

Enable the event camera from the main game options menu, then. I never used it too much, but when you fire a torpedo, when an enemy unit gets close to you, etc, a window showing the action should pop up.
Besides this, I think NewUI's got a feature for following nearby units in free camera view (full screen). IIRC, you should be able to toggle between any nearby unit by clicking on one of the "eye buttons" on the top of the screen.

I think there is a configurable option in NewUIs that allows you to hide automatically the TAI map, when you don't mouse over it. Another option makes the same map minimized by default when you enter scope/UZO station. The blank windows issue is not normal though and has nothing to do with the TAI map behaviour. Something has to be wrong with your mods loadout or with your game installation.

This is easily the reason of your problems: as far as I know, AOTD_RDA is a mod for SHIV and is not compatible with SH5. Try uninstalling it and report back

Hi toschk,

I think what HennivR is actually looking for is not simply a free external camera view.

Unless I am misunderstanding the sense of his words, I guess he is looking for a chase view, like the one used in may driving and flying arcade games.
