Default Bounding Graphics?!?

Just noticed this yesterday...had it before but forgot to mention it.

Whenever I'm near a convoy......and looking through the binocs/periscope/uzi.....There is a rapid annoying screen jump or twitch i would say.... Now my game is not slowing down (sure I take a FPS hit with all the action) aka stutteiring...ships are still moving smoothly horizontally...just a vertical twitching my scope i think every couple of seconds. I was really pronounced after watching a burning ship.....now that I think about i it didnt happen while submerged while looking through the periscope. My settings are pretty much maxed out.

Anyone else encounter something like this...or have a fix?

place the mouse cursor in the crosshair's area and move the mousewheel forward when this happens. It will stop. Some kind of game bug where it's trying to set zoom to 1x then realizes it's not supposed to so it goes back to previous zoom value. Don't know why it happens sometimes.

Might be worth switching off V-Sync if you have it activated. I used to see the same 'stutter' at higher settings until I increased my RAM amount. Just the other night I noticed I hadn't seated one of the DIMMs properly (8.00 gig installed, 4.00 gig available), and was seeing very slight stutter on the bridge or external views.

Reseated the RAM so the full 8gig works and the stutter just vanished. This is quite the admission for me as previously I've doubted the significance of RAM amount needed for SH5. I now run all max settings bar shadows and anti-aliasing (half & 2x respectively), and it takes 3.6 gig of quad-core CPU, a 1.3 gig GTX 570 and 8 gig of 1600mhz RAM running at full tilt to give me a solid 60fps with V-Sync on. Anything lower and settings need to drop; textures is the worst culprit and should be (along with AA & shadows) the first settings you decrease if you find TDWs idea doesn't work.

If you have a recent-ish Nvidia card, most of them now support FXAA, which is far less GPU intensive than other AA solutions. You can apply it manually to SH5 in the Nvidia control panel (ensure it's set to override for SH5 only) and see if that helps too - should be a decent 10fps boost.

I've been toying with my GTX 560's in SLI...and running single..trying to figure out if I get better performace with the different configurations. Obviously their is no SLI support for SH5...so I'm just monitoring it. Does not seem to be an increase in proformance...just less temps on the main graphics card (like only 5 degrees C). Have not tried overclocking yet. Intel i7-2700K-3.50GHz, 8 GB RAM... Thats what i'm working with....95% of the time i'm seeing 60 FPS...but a drop to around 40ish watching a burning ship with the binocs in the middle of a Convoy. I'll give FXAA a shot! thanks.

Why do people think they have a problem if they see FPS drop? You do not have any problems if your FPS stays above 30. 30 fps is what the human mind perceives as fluid motion.

Be thankful you can keep the FPS greater than 30. Anything more is overkill and not needed.
