Okay, site is a bit wing nut in some ways, but it makes some solid points, so read it.(standing by for the usual trolls to roll in the insults and no valid counter points)

Valid counter points eh??????
So the article is a re run of several of their popular crazy conspiracy theories in a single piece. Its even got the death camps and obamas secret army of nazi dentists. But hold on, no 9/11 or birther stuff. I like how it brings in as "credible mainstream" sources the people who brought you the "Stephen Hawkin would be dead if there was a national health service" bull. ![]() Quote:

I didn't read bubbleheads link, but the facts are:
The US government is increasingly undermining the constitution, Im afraid they do have Containment Camps, though nobody know what they are actully for as there is no transparency on them (that in it self is rather worrying). You have local malitias setup in 14 states. The dollar is becoming over inflated. (the US gov now borrows 42 cents of every dollar it spends.) Many enconomists are predicting another financial crisis towards the end of 2012. (nothing to do with the Mayan calander mind you. ![]() Sure we can all laugh a the foil hats, as they tend to go overboard, over exadurate and jump to conclusions. But unfortuntaly in this day and age, quite a few of these 'nutjob' concerns appear to be increasingly justified. |

Interesting. I recall that much the same arguments were raised in 1984 as to why Ronnie should not be re-elected, along with the one about a senile old codger pushing the wrong button and starting global thermonuclear war.
![]() Maybe if the Republicans had'nt mortally wounded their own candidate, they would not be so worried.

Yea but that was just left wing garbage meant to be used to bring him down because they could not make any legitimate attacks on his record.Like the article said, mainstream elements are catching on to this.Difference between Obama and Reagan is Obama actually has shown via some actions and comments in the last four years that he does indeed think he is the ultimate authority.Shows someone who just has a fundamental disrespect and dislike for the foundation of our country. |

As Bilge_Rat said, the Lefties made these claims against Reagan, and then against GW, and the Righties said the same things about Clinton. The wonderful watchdogs who protect us from ourselves always seem to cling to one side or the other, and never have anything reasonable to say. It's always "Bush this" and "Obama that", and they never actually discuss anything, just preach. They are the voice in the wilderness, and God is on they're side, and if only we'd listen they could save us all from some bogeyman or another. One thing they never see is that those of us who truly do think about these things believe that they are just as dangerous as the people they want to save us from. Sure, I have problems with Obama, and it's true that the government always manages to erode our freedoms until we get upset enough to do something about it, but that doesn't mean he's planning to usurp the Constitution and make himself President For Life, and if he did the people themselves would never stand for it. As Jefferson pointed out, "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."

Only the most partisan hack or someone who is looney tunes could argue with a straight face that Obama is subverting the Constitution. Every action he has taken, even the most controversial ones (Libya, recess appointments) were either clearly within his presidential powers or he had ample precedents.
This is just a sign of how desperate the Republicans are becoming. The Republicans blew a golden opportunity to reclaim the white house. Republicans themselves defined their own candidate as a flip-flopper, opportunist, out of touch, corporate raider, too rich, etc. Given the current state of the economy, ANY opposition candidate should be poling 10-20 points ahead of Obama at this point in the campaign. Unless something drastic happens in the next 6 months, you are looking at a minimum 5-10 point win by Obama. Why do you think the Obama team sounds so confident these days?

Trying to stir the pot on issues that have been examined is a waste of time.
Should the Executive Office - regardless of who is in it - try to grasp dictatorial powers - the uprising would be immense and indefeatable. You would have Congress, the Judiciary, the Military and the States in absolute lockstep against such a thing. Its a waste of time and energy to think that such bold jumps would occur. Its not a coup - there are however distinct trends toward REMOVING the Constitution from its place as the foundation of our Federal government. However, that takes time - and the voters will speak (as they did in 2010) that such will not be allowed. This is fearmongering of the worst sort, and is a waste. Lets focus on what is there and provable: #1 Gas and energy prices skyrocketing - lack of a coherent energy policy. #2 Less total employed now than when Obama took office. #3 Crony Capitalism that rewards major donors on the taxpayer's dime, using imaginary wishful thinking as policy - aka "green jobs". #4 Total and undeniable failure in foreign policy. #5 Total and undeniable failure in keeping campaign promises regarding closing Gitmo, ending overseas wars, keeping Iran from getting a nuke, bringing NK back into the mainstream world, etc..... #6 Surging natonal debt that outstrip even his predecessor, whom he blames for almost every failure, despite having 3+ years to fix it. #7 Supporting legislation that has consistently been opposed but the majority of the people. #8 Consistently opposing legislation and policy supported by the majority of the people. #9 Continually stirring class and racial division in an attempt to secure support among fractious groups. #10 Failing to promote an economic policy with any coherence, going so far as to asking his own party to vote against his own budget if it came to a vote in Congress. I could go on and on...... But I don't think its necessary. The American people will speak in November - and be warned, the "Silent Majority" will not be silent.
