Nothing beats a mouthful of hard concrete to remind you of the sensitivity of live nerve endings.

I think that would be uncomfortably hot behind one of those engines.

Actually not really you would have to be just a few feet behind it to really feel any heat now if that where an F-15 and had they kicked on the afterburners then it would have been.
Having worked near aircraft everyday in the Air Force I can say that the heat would not be unbearable not at that distance it would feel like a hot humid day but not be painful of course we never willing stood behind something at full power either but I did see a guy get blown by a jerk contract Evergreen 747 that taxied out and then went nearly to full power sending several airman that had helping taxi him out all over the place no one got burned and one guy was very close 50 feet or less that Evergreen pilot got fined and was banned from landing at any military base.Where they where standing in that video the jet wash and sand blasting would be far more the concern.

Now the APU exhaust would have burned the two along the fence lucky for them its well over their head.I am a bit surprised that they do not have a jet wash deflector at the end of the runway come to think of it.

I do not really feel bad for the girl in the video she is obviously stupid and wealthy seeing as it was on St.Maarteen she has good insurance i have no doubt seems that she needs it.

The larger engines they've come out with in recent years can pick up chunks of broken concrete and toss them some feet. Not just little chunks of broken concrete, but the larger one- or two-foot chunks you see after a runway has been demolished. A smaller fragment could leave a scar if it found its way through that chainlink, I would think.

Anyway, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

I have stood behind a F-16 while taxiing. I was probably 20-30 meters from it. It was like a warm breese. It actually felt very good. Smelled good too.

Never knew that. But then I made it a point not to stand behind any running engines when I was on the Flight Line.

It looked to me like they, or at least he, deliberately let go of the fence and tried to body surf the jet wash. The guy was able to successfully get turned around but the girl lost her balance, hesitated and her own momentum did most of the rest.

Probably can't put one up due to arriving traffic, some pilots come in real low in SXM. I agree thought it would help aviod inccidents like this.

Common sense and proper usage of ones brain will also prevent accidents like this one.
