Default The Taliban's nuclear ambitions (LWJ)

Remember these people are not our enemies! Our VP said so!

Quote:
Khalid said the Taliban want to "replace the English system of democracy with Islamic Shariah" as "the Pakistani system has nothing to do with Islam." Khalid also said that the Taliban want to seize Pakistan's nuclear weapons and "other resources," including the army, to defend Islam.

Pretty sure that I recall there having been Pakistani based Taliban attacks in the recent past on Pakistani nuclear sites.

I wonder how India views the current situation in Pakistan.

Did the US government get paid the bounty on aitullah Mehsud?

I'd wager that the second it looked like the Taliban were going to get control of Pakistans missiles India would flatten them.

But would that stop the Taliban from getting the warheads? Pakistan does have a small number (<12) of tactical warheads for LACMs. Getting those would be the difficult part.

Touché, although I'd wager that India would just nuke the entire area to be sure. There's no love lost between Muslims and Hindus, and that's the understatement of the year, so the threat of the Taliban or AQ getting a hold of Pakistans arsenal is one which they will probably already be talking about in Delhi.

It would be in Pakistans best interests to have them well guarded by loyal men too, but these days in Pakistan loyalty is a relative term rather than an absolute.

Actually India has the 3rd largest Muslim population of any nation in the world so they don't hate Muslims just certain ones which is most of them.Of course there have been issues here and there involving hate crimes hindu vs. muslim but that kind of crap happens everywhere hate crimes I mean.Although the ones over there have been very nasty a group of either Hindu or Muslims killing everyone not like themselves in a two or three block radius including cutting open the wombs of pregnant women.

I would imagine that Research and Analysis Wing (India's CIA) must be keeping some tabs.Of course you have another player when talking about India vs. Pakistan; China who provides a lot of military aid to Pakistan for the sole purpose of annoying India. If India where to comment a major military operation China will probably not like it very much.
