I loaded up the new NYGM mod and am on patrol....have left port, no damage ect new crew..... aircraft is spoted and I dive to periscope depth.....a few minutes later im at 2 knots and NOT silent running, when I begin to sink I order a return to periscope depth but I continue to sink....I order flank speed and a return to periscope depth but continue to sink.... i blow ballast and order periscope depth which works for a few minutes until I again begin to sink.
ANy ideas what give with this.....it make NYGM completely unplayable for me because I can neve stay at periscope depth for long, even while moving.

Did you hit "C" to order a (crash) dive when the plane was spotted, and then order periscope depth? If so, sounds like the Crash Dive Blues - a known bug. If you order a crash dive by hitting "C" you are ordering the boat to go to a preset depth (stock default is 70m) as quickly as possible. Ordering periscope depth or any other depth before the crash dive is completed can result in the boat continuing to sink out of control.

Agree with the above-Crash Dive Blues.
Just be thankful there are no escorts hunting you. Everytime it has happened to me, I had escorts searching for me as well, and trying to silently sneak away at flank speed is a wee bit difficult. ![]() ![]()

Also what type of boat? Type IXs seem more prone to this than other types, at least for me.

Isn't this a result of the buoyanct parameters coded into the game?

sinking for no reason
Sinking for no reason is a fact tho, my current experience => just left Pearl Harbor, standard speed setting, cruising on the surface, only a single merchant (friendly as it is bleu) nearby, and no planes. and then... taking ****load of damage and sub destroyed
![]() might want to look deeper into it :-) thats SH4 tho. ps: running the vanilla game with latest updates, no mods or add-ons. pss: maybe one of my crew is a japanese spy that sabotaged my boat ! |
