Default Bad Review

So I've been out of the game for a while now (no pun intended), and I'm thinking about picking up SH5. I played SHIII and 4 religiously for a few years, while posting and lurking on here. I haven't even been on subsim in 2 years, so when I saw there's a whole new section for SH5 I was all but then I read this customer review http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/971406-si.../review-140357 and I was all My question is, what is the validity of this review? Is it worth it to buy SH5, or should I just stick with III for the U-boat action. I'd like to see what you guys honestly think about the game. Thanks y'all, good to be back.

Never read the review but the date is old and he probably played the game without mods for the review. At stock its playable and crash-able and wheres that damn whiskey bottle!

Get to know what mods make it happen and then play the game. Yes SH5 is worth it now.

That review is from the release of the game. It's totally unrelated to the Silent Hunter 5 of today.

Sweet... that's why this community is amazing. I should've known that would be the case after playing the likes of GWX and other mods over vanilla games. Game-changers.

Ok having just purchased the game, the big question is which mod? Yes I know what you are thinking but do try to help a bit.

I`m not too interested in eye candy, I think its got that already which suits my PC. I would like realism and a decent campaign model. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

The absolute bare mininum I'd suggest would be:

TheDarkWraith's NewUI 6.8.0

Also, perhaps later:
TheDarkWraith's FX Update
TheDarkWraith's IRAI AI upgrade (personally this kicks my ass too much to enjoy, so I need to edit it down)
MightyFineCrew
Open Horizons II
All of Trevally's scripts and Harbor Pilot scripts
Sound mod, tools mod and environment mod of your choice

or perhaps MO, the super mod which includes a lot of these listed mods already.

But you'll want NewUI first and foremost. There's a LOT to even just that one mod though, so make sure you read the instructions.
