Anyone every seen this film footage taken during Project Azorian? Interesting to see and the entire story of Project Azorian is as well a few conspiracy theories surrounding it as well. Some speculate that the Soviet commander had gone rouge and the Soviets took the sub out.
EDIT: looks like video is looped perhaps? Last edited by Stealhead; 08-06-11 at 12:03 AM. |

Through John Walker's spy ring and the subsequent capture of the USS Pueblo, a small american trawler, rigged with secret ELINT equipment, the soviets could from then on secretly intercept, decrypt and decodify any US Navy communication.
After the K-129, a Soviet Ballistic Missile Diesel Sub sunk in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the Soviets quickly blamed on the US. Also, a not too long after, the USS Seawolf returned to port, covertly at night, with a destroyed and almost torn apart sail. A few months after, the USS Scorpion sunk while returning to home port, about a day after having been diverted from its original and most direct course home, to investigate a mysterious Soviet naval exercise, involving ships which wouldnt operate together as a normal practice. Both navies hold together a pact of secrecy regarding these episodes. |

You are thinking of the USS Swordfish, she returned to Japan with only minor dent in her sail and a bent scope. A Japanese newspaper took photos of her entering port. |

I have seen this and other videos of the project.
I was especially impressed at the care and respect of the burial at sea. Very classy. Even in a cold war, militaries are still united in their code. ![]()

It is respectful but the shots from above and when they show the "casket" being lowered into the sea are eerie.
