Default Starting boat problem

Not sure if this belongs in the mods section or here, so bear with me.

I'm trying to start a March 1945 career in the 7/13th flotilla using SH3 Commander and GWX3. The problem is that when I select a Type VIIC in Commander, launch the game and select the proper year and flotilla, I'm stuck with a Type IIA. When I load a 1942 career with the 7th, I get a VIIC.

Is something wrong with commander or with SH3? I seem to vaguely recall having something like this happen in the past and the problem had something to do with an incorrect equipment selection that made the game default to a IIA. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

thanks

Ok, this is very odd.

When selecting a Type VIIC from 7/13 flotilla in March 1945, I'm stuck with a IIA. When selecting a Type VIIC from 11 flotilla in March 1945, it works and I end up with a VIIC. Bizarre. Any ideas as to what can be causing this?

You have to look in Flotilla.cfg in the Cfg folder.

make a search in the Flotilla.cfg for "7th" this will bring you to the 7th flotilla part, 7th emblem. Then you look under the year in that flotilla make sure the uboat and version is what you want. It's sort of confusing at first, but the file is in a format and order that is understandable. My Flotilla.cfg is a hybrid of my likings so I can't help much.

But basically look under the 7th flotilla part and make sure the year and boat type match what you want. This is all the help I can be as mine is very modded.

Thanks for the help. I'm using GWX3, with no other mod that messes with Flotilla.cfg.

Mine's a bit modded too- but the only thing I've done is get the 7th/13th flotilla to use Narvik as a base instead of Trondheim. However, the problem still occurs when I use the stock GWX3 backup.

Here's the entry for the 7th:

Code:
Flotilla2=904
TO2=940
NbStartingDate2=7
NbDate2=7
Emblem2=data/Emblems/SubEmblems/Flotillas/7th flotilla.tga
NbBases2=4
Base2_0=765;Königsberg

DeparturePointLong2_1=1218360.000000

Base2_2=754;St. Nazaire
Date2_2_0=1940
Month2_2_0=9
Date2_2_1=1944
Month2_2_1=7
DeparturePointLong2_2=-262222.000000
DeparturePointLat2_2=5675087.000000
Heading2_2=90.000000
Base2_3=766;Narvik
Date2_3_0=1944
Month2_3_0=8
Date2_3_1=1945
Month2_3_1=5
DeparturePointLong2_3=2089313.000000
DeparturePointLat2_3=8210704.000000
Heading2_3=300.000000
NbUboats2=1
Uboat2_0=1
As you can see, the Uboat2_0=1 should mean that the only sub used by this flotilla is the Type 7.

For comparison, here is the entry for the 11th, which works correctly.

Code:
Flotilla4=906
TO4=943
NbStartingDate4=4
NbDate4=4
Emblem4=data/Emblems/SubEmblems/Flotillas/11th flotilla.tga
NbBases4=1
Base4_0=755;Bergen
Date4_0_0=1942
Month4_0_0=6
Date4_0_1=1945
Month4_0_1=5
DeparturePointLong4_0=637589.000000
DeparturePointLat4_0=7249043.000000
Heading4_0=270.000000
NbUboats4=2
Uboat4_0=1
Uboat4_1=3
Aside from the 11th getting to use a XXI, I don't see a difference. Could something besides Flotilla.cfg cause this? Let me know if you need anything else to help. If you're using GWX3 and SH3 commander, could you try starting a March 1945 career with the 7/13 with a VIIC and see if it works?

thanks

That's what your 1945 under 7th flotilla should look like. That's GWX 3.0

You see not only in the begining of the entry of the flotilla, but also in the corresponding year the uboat type needs to be correct.
As you can see it says the uboat type and version. Here its saying 7th/13th flotilla takes viic/41 starting in Jan. 1945.

Post yours plz.

And this is what I got from SH3 Commander, Cfg folder U-boat availability.cfg

904_NbVersion=4
904_Version0=0 ; VIIB
904_Name0=VIIB
904_Month0=1
904_Year0=1939
904_Version1=1 ; VIIC
904_Name1=VIIC
904_Month1=8
904_Year1=1940
904_Version2=2 ; VIIC/41
904_Name2=VIIC/41
904_Month2=6
904_Year2=1944
904_Version3=3 ; VIIC/42
904_Name3=VIIC/42
904_Month3=6
904_Year3=1945
904_DaysSpentInBase=45

Which corresponds correctly with the entry in my GWX 3.0 for the VIIC/41 in 1945 in 7th/13th flotilla.
