Default [REL] SH-5 Water for SH-3 ULTIMATE V10

Intro
This mod will provides an environment which is realistic and immersive. It will raise Sh3 to the next level.

Concept
I created a model which I calculated values of the parameters for the various scenes instead of tweaking them one by one. This idea I already used to mod SH-5 but I lost my interest in that game. The model directly changes the EnvColor.dat file. Of course still a lot of tuning and testing is needed but it gives consistent and results.

Features
· Great immersion. Many improvements over the previous versions but reuse of the goodies like the wave motion.
· More Natural colours based on real life pictures
· Consistent inter-scene colours. Colour adjustment with a natural result during the transition between two scene.
· Storm/cloud based on grey sky and improved green "Das Boot" like water.
· Improved rain. Thinner and more grey so rain becomes less visible, more as it is in reality and at night the effect of unnatural white rain has been reduced to a more acceptable degree.
· Improved sunset and colour changes during the day.
· Night scene kept lighter so it can be played more easier.
· Colour above and underwater are consistent.
· Natural wave motion as in the previous version.

Important Notes
· You may need to adapt Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic filter settings in your graphic card drivers to enhance visual quality. But be careful and check if it does not effect colour quality. I had for example very bad experiences with the Ati tray tools.
· This Mod has been tested with GWX and LSH. For LSH-users a foam mod is included. I expect that it will work with other mega mods.
· Like the previous version of SH5 Water for SH3 this mod will need some extra effort from your hardware.
· I did not create different versions for the Mediterranean or Artic like in the previous version. I noticed that most people use the Atlantic version (default). During campaigning the game is stuck in the Atlantic version where ever your are. This is a stock bug.
· Right now the 8 Km and 16 Km are available. The 20K has issues on which I'm still working.

Installation
· Unzip the archive to your MOD map and activate with JSGME.

Screenshots

Mid-day. I experienced a lot with this scene as it is very dull. I found out that this scene lives up when the sky is made light blue rather than just blue.

Afternoon. I love this one! From three hours and more around sunset/sunrise yellow creeps into the sky and sunlight. Notice the change in the underwater colour, the foam and overall scene. By using a model high consistency is achieved.

Another evening shot.

I learned that there are many sunsets. This one is just great. Problem with the sunsets/sunrises is that it should fit with the scenes before and after.

Beautiful Black Swan destroyer.

Sunset: through the periscope.

Destroyer just after sunset. Colours are consistent as the model calculates them marvelous.

This is a complicated scene. It would have been easy to make it blue. But in reality the sky turns to a kind of blue green before it turns blue during the night.

I made the night playable by not making it too dark.

... you should still be able to hit something instead of wondering if your scope is above or still under water.

The sign of Scorpio through the persiscope.

What about bad wheather?

"Das Boot" like water.

The green-grey storm scene has been a huge effort to create. Unfortunately the SH-3 reflection has a will of itself. SH-3 has a tendency to spoil a scene by adding red. At certain moments I really doubted that it would be possible.

This is just great! Compare it to stock...

I made the rain thinner and darker grey. This makes rain less visible during the day and night.

At dawn with storm and destroyer. The sky becomes more blue.

Storm through the periscope during storm.

Have fun with it! Looking forward to your reactions and experiences!

I am fiddeling around with my "own" SH3:

I have to use the 8km version for some reasons. Today is May, 22th, 1941, 22:00...

I tried (I think so...) every environment mod, I could get my hands on. Even your v.9

Your v.10 looks really good so far. The fps on my laptop drops around 5 - 9, so no big deal. VSync on. I am going to try it out tonight.
Really nice one, thank you very much. These shots are with your v.10:

Edit: Wind is around 7 m/s

Hi Danasan. Thank you! Looking at your screenshots I would suggest to cranck up the AA and/or AF but that would yield 5 fps...

Hi,

It was just a quick test while sitting at my laptop. So when it comes to the PC, I'll squeeze everything out of it. Both have the same "version" installed.

Unfortunatly, my girlfriend is playing the incredible settlers II on my PC atm...

It won't break anything essential an d cause CTDs, but the problem is that sensors get affected by environmental colors and NYGM's ones have been tweaked for its own environment. So you will probably get more blind AI because this excellent mod is darker than NYGM's original one. However, if you were feeling that you needed to be more invisible at night in NYGM, then the mod will work great for you.

Thanks for the cool water mod! Looks excellent, and the sun looks great too! No FPS hit to worry about. 2 GTX 260 cards in SLI, and she runs at the lowest, 75 FPS, and averages 130 to 160 most of the time.

Thank you for the great looking mod - I'm really enjoying the look of the water and colours in the sunrises and sunsets.

I too though am having problems with a golf ball sun. It's not quite the same as earlier posts though - I do have a "halo" of sorts around the sun (so it's not as golf balley as the earlier screengrab posted with no halo at all), but the halo is very faint, leaving the tiny sun very obvious. I'm using an ATI X1900XT card, with ATI Tray Tools.

I've tried the bigger sun mod, and it makes the halo bigger - but not the actual sun itself.

Is there anything else I can try?
