Default [WIP] Alsace class battleship

With the success of the Richelieu I decided to do the successor to the Richelieu, the Alsace. She was to be armed with three quad 15 inch guns. This is an AI ship, NOT playable. For further information about the Alsace check this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alsace_class_battleship

Here`s a few pictures to whet your appetite.

If there is enough interest I might make the Alsace playable.

I think you will love this one. It`s the Dutch 1047 battlecruiser.

Looks good, too bad we won't be able to compare it with pics of a real one of this ship class.
You're a talented modeller, I'd appreciate it if your next ship is/was one that existed in real life.
Yeah, sorry but I'm not into building fictional models myself.

Still, good work, keep it up !

Here`s a few referance pictures for both the Alsace and 1047:

There are more ships that I haven`t released yet. Ships such as the Alaska, the three subclasses of the County class, South Dakota (AI version) and a new version of the Richelieu. Discovered that she was much to big and has more AA guns and working 15 inch and 6 inch guns.
I do believe that my Alaska is the ship for Silent Hunter with the most extensive AA battery with 81 induvidual AA mounts for quad and double AA guns (5"/38`s excluded.)

Now, that looks a hell of a lot better than the Richelieu. Having the third turret at the stern helps make it look more balanced!

and were will the 1047 be sailing ? The dutch colonies or in Europe ?
The ship will have to be added to the campaign layer if you want to find it at sea. How I do that is beyond me. I also have no clues as to where she will appear.

The fourth and last Richelieu, the Gascogne was to have one quad turret fore and one quad turret aft. This would have made her a little more balanced. Also keep in mind that the Richelieus were built as a response to the Vittorio Veneto class, while the Alsace was a response to the Bismarck class.

Hi Karle,

I have a copy of Siegfried Breyer's "Battleships and Battlecruisers 1905-1970" and it does include a plan of Gascogne, so I knew about her. It doesn't have any images of the Alsace though. It's a nice model - you've done a good job!

It also has info and plans for the Dutch battlecruisers too - great to see those being done as well!

Any plans to do the Gascogne?

Mike.

Not at the moment. I have made playable versions of the Richelieu and the Vanguard, but something is making the game to CTD and I can`t find out what.
