Default Maybe one for the future

I may be told that this is available already...but...wouldn't it be cool if at the start of each patrol you had to visit another sub section in the main menu part before the patrol where you get your torps, crew etc and you had to do a complete stock check on food and provisions before starting off.
You would have to gather the correct amount of food per crew member, water, coffee, cigarettes and so on.
And if you miscalculated the crew will have to go on rations etc. and this would effect the morale and how fast they do their jobs and son on.

Or is it just me ?

Something of that detailed intervention would probably have been possible at the development stage of SH3 and would need to have been hard coded.

Bit late now I'm afraid.

Provisioning the boat was the boat navigator's job. He doubled as the ship's quartermaster. I don't know if there was ever a case of a U-Boat running out of food before running out of fuel. Maybe. The Milchkuhs and supply ships and subs always sent fresh provisions over in addition to fuel and torpedoes. I've also seen photos of crew members sharpshooting at sharks and other marine animals and hauling them aboard to augment their diet. Spoilage certainly was a problem, especially on tropical patrols.

Well, sharp-shooting might be a generous term as machine pistols were used as well. Obviously, this was something you couldn't do every day.
