Not Able to Dive?

I've played some SH3 and mostly SH4, and just got my copy of SH5 a couple of days ago. Early on my first patrol I come across a couple of aircraft which proceed to shoot up my boat. I couldn't figure out why the boat wouldn't dive and then I read in the bottom right text window that I couldn't because of the men on deck. I started another patrol and have searched through just about every command I can find but am unable to find out how to clear the deck in order to dive. In SH4 you just... dive... the idiots on the deck knew enough to go below. What is it that I need to do in order to make the boat dive? Thanx!

Climb down the ladder . It is because you are on deck .
