Is there a mod to make the officer models that of the das boot cast?

It would go great with the das boot officer icon also getting rid of the horrid voice acting of the officers altogether and replaceing a few select quotes from the movie would be very cool

Without getting the necessary permissions from the owners of Das Boot, and from the Agents representing the cast members, whoever did this would be looking at some serious litigation.

I doubt it. There's been a bajillion SH3 mods using the likenesses of the actors in a non-commercial way. I don't see how it would be any different?

I'm allmost made a full conversion of the sim to a Das Boot Tribute any one who wants my current mod collection list just ask all I need now is a 3D model for the officers and some speech clips from the movie to replace basic dialog while other diolog is scapt and it will be finished anyone who helps will have a new friend

One thing that might be possible is to make the actual officers inside the boat (the ones we pretend to talk to and pay attention to

) in the likeness of the Das Boot crew. How can it be done? Me I have no idea! But in the Mighty Fine Crew the actual officers faces have been changed (thus giving the posibility of changing the officers faces to that of the Das Boot crew..)

Surely not. As long as the mod is created by a paying customer ( As opposed to Ubisoft)and distributed free of charge, how could any copyright laws get broken here? It would be comparable to drawing a picture of Lady Gaga being illegal.

I think as long as you are not profiting from or damaging the brand then the most the copyright holder can do is force you to withdraw it.

The only way that is likely to happen is if the copyright holder licenses the material to a game developer, which one could argue is a win/win situation for SubSim.
