Default Pls Help Bad Crash Problem

Hi Guys,

Im still having problems with my SH5 install.

Ive done lots of experementing and found the trigger of the crash but
can find no way to fix it. Can anyone please help me , ill explain the
problem.

Every time I encounter an enemy ship on the surface and that ship
fires its main gun I have a complete system crash to the dreaded
blue screen. The game runs fine all the time other than under this
circumstance. There doesnt seem to be any problem with machine
gun fire or air attacks it only occours when the bigger guns try to
fire.

What ive tried so far as a solution.

I got a brand new Hard drive installed win xp pro fully updated.
Ive checked all system drivers and have updated those.
Ive updated direct X.
I tried updating visual C++ to the 2010 version but the game would
not load. so I uninstalled all Vis C++ and only have the version from
the SH5 DVD installed.
I have allso tried running the game on the lowest quality graphic
settings but no change.
Ive tried uninstalling all mods and starting a new carear but I still
have the same problem.
When I first Installed the game the detection tool that came with
SH5 gave me Green ticks in all boxes.

As I said the game runs fine all the rest of the time but its annoying
as if I get caught out on the surface by an escort and it fires its
main guns the game crashes straight away. Obviously I can avoid this
problem by "being a good sub commander" as you should never get
caught in this position. But its anoying to me to know the problem
exists.

Has anyone else experienced any similar problems ?
Is there a mod that may fix this ?

I wellcome any comments as im running out of ideas on how to fix
this. Below are my system specs , im interested in hearing from anyone
that uses a similar system. Or can comfirm they have the radeon HD 5750
video card working with this game.

Ive used DXDIAG to collect the data below

Its annoying , try uninstalling the game and the ubisoft game launcher which are 2 diffrent programs . Dont forget to uninstall your mods first . After that delete the SH5 folder in my programs and also the ubisoft game launcher folder which is a diffrent program . Then delete your SH5 folder in my documents if its still there . In other words delete every trace of the game then reinstall it . Maybe even go into regedit and delete from your registry by finding references to ubisoft (that is if you dont have any other ubisoft products installed) .

OK , ive tried reinstalling everything , starting with win XP updated to sp3
latest Graphics driver , latest direct x and im still getting the same
problem. as soon as an enemy ship fires its main gun I have a complete
system crash. Ive even tried changing the bios settings they were all on
default and auto I tried slowing the cpu by 10% and memory from 4 to 3,3
I even tried removing a stick as I have 2 x 2 G ram and thought the 4 G
was causing a problem. But no effect. as I said before its not crashing to desktop but to a blue screen. some text does appear but its gone in a
second and i cant read it then the whole system reboots.
Ill send you my sh5 folder but Ill bet it works fine , I think its some
sort of system incompatability or other software problem.
Let me know how you go with my saves.

If you load the last save " No Mods on Station" or something similar and
head straight for the closest allied port and intercept the patrolling
destroyer , closing untill it starts to fire. Thats the point my game
crashes. Machine gun fire is fine but as soon as the main gun fires
I crash. I started a new carear after a fresh install and saved at this point
so you could see what happens.

Thanks Sober

Did you enable the 3g switch ?

The 3GB switch won't do anything performance-wise. It will just avoid errors and crashes when SH5 runs out of "memory" (addressing space actually).
And it will only matter for 32 bit systems.

Even though you only have 2GB RAM, the 3GB switch refers to _virtual memory_, not physical memory. So you can enable the 3GB switch even with 1 GB of RAM, it will help.

If you have windows vista/7, the more video RAM you have, the more your harbors will disappear ! (as paradoxical as it can be....)
That's because the video card memory uses the same 2GB of virtual memory as the game uses, so you will have less memory for the game.

As a conclusion, this will only avoid errors/crashes, and only works on 32bit systems (with more positive impact for vista/win7 uses).
