Default Muslim Soldier Refuses to Deploy Overseas

Quote:
A U.S. Army soldier wants to leave the military service as a conscientious objector based on his beliefs as a Muslim, but he says he’s concerned he may be deployed to Afghanistan anyway.
Pfc. Naser [sic] Abdo, 20, an infantryman assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky., said Monday that if the military orders him to deploy, he will refuse to go despite the fact that it may result in a military charge against him.

Sounds like someone just wanted attention. Why else would he join the Army in 09 knowing that he'd most likely get sent overseas?

Anyone notice he seems to smirk a lot during this video?

Conscientious objector? Fine you can stay in the rear with the gear! Oh he didn't even want to do that!

You join the army and go in the airborne what did you expect? Did you not know that the airborne are one of the most deployed units?

If you are a Muslim but don't want to risk fighting other Muslims then join the USCG.

Personally, I don't even understand this whole "conscientious objector" concept. If you are drafted, then it is every citizen's duty to serve. If it is a All-Volunteer military, you volunteered. What right do you have to squeak "Religion" or whatever and get out of it... you might as well get out of taxes...

Volunteer joins the army and then volunteers for Airborne and then say no won't go on religious grounds? Anyone else think something doesn't add up?

Didn't the guy realise joining up and airborne duty in a unit called the 1st Brigade Combat Team might mean actually killing someone some time?

Send him to a General Court Martial and kick him out with a BCD, pretty cut and dry.

I would agree. It is hard to justify being a conchie in an all volunteer service.

I bet he had no problems taking the military paycheck. Well, the military ain't paying you just because they like you. They are paying you so they can use you.

There is the possibility that he is spying.

Agree, only difference is he's gone to the media. Most flakes don't do that.

What use is a spy who is a Private that doesn't go into battle, anyway?

What a piece of garbage. I don't have an eloquently-worded opinion at the moment. This guy just needs his ass kicked. Repeatedly. Doubly so for that damn smirk on his face.

I'm normally a pretty laid-back guy. I don't get riled easily, and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and forgive them when they mess up. The way I see it, we're all just people in this crazy world, and when someone else isn't screwing something up or doing something stupid, I usually am. So please understand the significance of what I say when I tell you that I just about popped a vein when I read this [expletive] at 1:15
Quote:
The Army and Fort Campbell recognize that even in our all-volunteer force, a soldier's moral, ethical, or religious beliefs are subject to change over time.
Oh, f-ing really!? You know what doesn't change over time? The mother----ing contract and your oath, sworn before God and your countrymen to uphold the Constitution and defend these United States with your life, if need be. That means obeying the UCMJ, and that means obeying lawful orders.

So where in the frak does this unbelievable, cowardly, indescribably detestable piece of fecal rot get off refusing a lawful order to deploy? Who the hell is this spokesman, and what is wrong with him? What is this "rights", BS? You know how many rights you have in my military? NONE! You have a goddamn mission to complete is what you have!

This....disgusting pile of refuse that somehow obtained classification as a human being, let alone a soldier, is a stain that can never be washed out of the uniform that men and women have proudly fought and died in. Even if he is court-martialed and subsequently atomized by a nuclear blast, and every trace of him is completely wiped off of the face of the earth forever, the uniform, and the people who wear it, will never be rid of the shame. Forevermore, they will have to admit that this honorless son of a bitch was allowed into their ranks, if only for a time. It will never go away. Not ever.

Beating the living crap out of this guy with a wrench would make me feel better, but the damage is already done. I was going to conclude by saying something meaningful, but honestly, I'm just consumed by the idea of beating PFC Abdo's face into a pulpy mess with the butt of my rifle, so I got nothin'.

Conscientious objectors have served as medics in the British Army and some of them went on to win Victoria Crosses for their valour on the battlefield. Medics really are the bravest of the brave so let's make this guy serve as a medic and see what he's really made of.

I've fought alongside Muslim soldiers, both British and Afghan, and trust them equally to my Christian colleagues. Religion is less important than the personal relationships and trust you build up on the battlefield. Maybe the guy could become a mentor to the Afghans or Iraqis - they share a religion and they could teach him a great deal about courage.

anyway, back on topic:

this guy is just another worm who joined for the free benefits and education then says "oops, never mind, i've taken all the freebees now i want to leave" without serving to pay for them as he agreed to.

until they start making these guys pay full value plus intrest for the training they got this will keep happening.

you want to not serve? fine repay uncle sam $150,000.00 and you can go home and play with your toys, if not be a man (or woman) and live up to your agreement
