I noticed this too. Only thing I can think of is that he is actually 'standing' on the blast deflector and the telecompression along with a stray shadow makes it look like he is hanging from the wing.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one. He's jumping to get a look at the top of the wing.

Im guessing its from the heat. The same thing you see with streets on a hot day. you will notice this under the plane... Im guessing.
