Default What is the Ration of SHV forum users vs the rest?

I have noticed at least on this forum that the SHV forum on average seems to have 3-4 times more people viewing it than the other forums. Is this an indication that SHV has indeed got a solid fan base?

It's nowhere near that large. If you go to the main forum page http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/index.php it will give you the figures for how many people are viewing the forums. Usually it works out that the viewers of the SH3+SH4 forum add up to the same as the SH5 forum, but the mods forums for that are more popular, with the individual mods forums being on a par, with usually the SH5 mod forum getting about 25% more viewers.

Yes I agree, the SH5 Mod forum have usually an average of 25% more in comparison of the SH3 mod forum, but the other day for example, I saw the SH5 Mod forum with well above of 200 viewers and at the same time, the SH3 Mod forum was just a little above 100 viewers

How is it you can say "I agree", and then say the exact opposite of what he said?

Part of the problem with this kind of comparison is people like me, who read all the forums every time I pass through, and comment on most of them. I'm interested in submarines and submarine simulators in general, and really get tired of people who don't seem capable of anything beyond "Mine's bigger/better/stronger/faster". This particular thread has been done several times before, and it accomplishes nothing, beyond "Rah, rah, mines better!"

Which it both is and isn't, depending on any number of criteria.

Any new game will bring in lots of new players to a forum for a time and pull a percent from older games, that's why.

Same thing happens when a married man thinks he's found a younger more attractive woman. She may look good on the outside and he enjoys the newness of it. After awhile he realizes he realizes she shallow and empty and lacks the inner beauty of his long time wife. Thus he returns to promised love, hoping that no one will ever know.

The many at the SH4 forum didn't fall for the pretty package. This forum is just full of a bunch of adulterers..

You're only sayin' that because you know mine's bigger!

Yeah, I've heard/read that a few times in the past as well but somehow the figures don't appear to support that theory.

I'm simply hoping the community can improve SHV as much as it did for SH3.

Don't ever forget, the future of SHV in modding terms is quite dependant on those who worked tirelessly on modding SH3 even taking into account the recent influx of new modding talent

Probably a lot people are just looking what's the status of SHV. If it's playable, a new patch is out or if there are mods coming out making the game better.

I have it as of recently. I like it. Imho its more realistic than the last.
But I wanted to know it was popular enough to stand the test of time and perhaps have the DRM taken off.

No. It's an indication that Silent Hunter 5 is the newest game in the Silent Hunter franchise. Next case, Inspector.
