Just wondering if someone would take the Hira and Atami gunboats, add passive active sonar and depth charge rack to them, for coastal escort duties.Would be nice to have some company for the smaller escorts such as the Cha-1 subchaser.

would not put them to sea, just costal and harbor but they need asw capability or are pretty much useless.They are there taking up space, may as well make them a threat

Put a passive sonar on them. They won't do anything, but if they make a detection, they'll call someone who can.
